Linch Pin To Being Lucky

Some months back, I was privileged to be at a book club hangout.

As I remembered that day, I made effort to jar my memory about everything that happened on that day.

Amongst the things I remember was, been called upon to make an introduction about myself. After saying my name and all of that, the anchor, whose energy level I dearly admire asked me a question.

The question she asked was, "do you believe in luck?"

With a long pause, I thought hmmm! Why did I get that kind of question? I mean–every other person's were been asked about their hobby and this is what I got!

Well, this is a tough one, who doesn't pray to be lucky?!

I can't really recall everything I said, but I recalled saying something like, "luck is not as important as preparation"; I went ahead making instances to justify my claim.

When I looked back at what I said that day, I realized that, I tend to still agree with it, because when you are lucky–apart from winning a lottery–it could only mean that, you've sort of have an inclination towards that which you seems to be lucky for.

What does that mean?

This is it, say you were given an opportunity and you made use of it.  That in turn builds you and prepare you for another opportunity.

It's just like a company of whichever kind, needing a manager who could manage their business, until you've acquired certain papers or skills, you are not yet qualified to be a manager in that company.

Luck are not built from thin air, they come as a result of any effort you've once made.

On that day, I remember saying I don't believe in luck (and I am not using this article as a means of confirming it, rather, I'm using it as a means to look at it in a different way).

I don't have problem with the word "luck"  but how most people think of it.

Luck is not something that crash on you as you are sleeping or walking aimlessly down the road. That kind of luck only happen in the extension of your imagination.

This is how I see it: Opportunities are linch pin to being successful, and that's what makes success quite predictable, hence, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.
